This series of abstract work is inspired by “La Resistencia,” the young men and women fighting for freedom and the fall of the current narco-corrupt government in my native country of Venezuela. I like working intuitively to create abstract art. I find that working this way helps me better understand my own process and I believe this is how new ideas are born. To create abstract work, you must be open to change and surprise. You must let go. On my best days, I start out with a vague plan of composition, color and scale. Then I begin to work and allow the process to unfold in different directions. This is what I find exciting about abstraction. You get unexpected results that are often better than your original plan.
